Stanley Carr and his family opened Carr's Boot Shop in Santa Maria, California in 1972.  The original business was opened as a shoe repair shop, but through the Carr family's tireless work ethic, dedication to the business, and strong community ties, the business grew to become one of the area's most popular retail destinations for work and western footwear and apparel. 

Stanley's son John and wife Sharon "Sparky" became the face of the business in the early 1980's and over the next 30+ years were the driving force in expanding the business.  At one point the Santa Maria store location stocked over 10,000 pair of western boots and was purported to have the largest boot selection on the West Coast!  The Carrs' worked hard to develop relationships with manufacturers, builders, growers, and business owners throughout the Santa Maria Valley, and in many cases became the supplier of choice for safety footwear and apparel. 

In 2016, the Carrs' sold the business to the Takken family from nearby Paso Robles, California.   The Takken's are honored to continue the business built by the Carr family and proud to be a part of the legacy.
